A Serological Study of Japanese Encephalitis on Horses in Seoul, 1973

Abstract

|
|
Prevalence of Japanese Encephalitis antibody among 242 healthy horses was assayed by means of hemagglutination inhibition test. During the pre-epidemic season in 1973, this serological survey using sera collected at the turf in Seoul, Korea inported from Australia, Japan and U. S. A. was done by age and by imported years. The obtained results are as follows;
1. Among 242 horse sera, 41 specimens had H-I positive titers and antibody posses rate is 16.9%. 2. Antibody posses rate by inported years are as follows;
1966-1967 77.8 % (7/9)
1999-1970 35.0 % (7/20)
1971 35.3 % (12/34)
1972 8.7 % (9/104)
1973 4.3 % (2/47)
